Many reports are coming in to Fraud Help Desk about scam emails purporting to come from the CJIB, the Centraal Justitieel Incassobureau or Central Fine Collection Agency – an executive agency of the Dutch Ministry of Security and Justice in the Netherlands. The messages carry the CJIB’s name and contain its logo. They all demand urgent payment of outstanding fines.
Many different versions of these emails are circulating. Below, you’ll find two examples. Please be aware that the amounts given may vary. Should you receive one of these emails, please ignore them. Remember that the CJIB never sends any traffic fines or payment reminders via email. If you receive a different authentic looking message from CJIB, please contact the agency for more information, or visit its website.
