Watch out for money requests via WhatsApp

Scammers are actively targeting victims through WhatsApp. They often pose as relatives or friends in need of cash.

The con artists use a photograph taken from the internet and say that the relative or friend has a new telephone number.

Our advice
Whenever you receive a request for help from someone you know, always check through another channel whether the request really comes from that person. Scammers often play on people’s willingness to help their friends in need. Of course, that is a commendable trait, but one should always avoid falling victim to this type of scam.
