Scam email from ‘CJIB’ about traffic fine

5 July 2018

Scammers are sending out fake email messages posing to come from the CJIB, the Centraal Justitieel Incassobureau or Central Fine Collection Agency – an executive agency of the Dutch Ministry of Security and Justice.

Recipients are told they have been fined € 421.15 for running a red light. The amount due must be paid into a British bank account.

Here’s an example of the email (click to enlarge):

Our advice
Don’t respond to this email. It’s a scam. Keep in mind that CJIB never informs people of a fine or sends any other notification by email.

If you have also received this e-mail, or another one that you do not trust, please forward it to valse-email@fraudehelpdesk.nl before deleting it from your inbox.
