Fake SMS text messages from ‘banks ‘ in circulation

13 August 2018

If you have received an SMS text message from your bank, don’t click on the link given in it. The link directs to a counterfeit website.

Any details disclosed on this website will end up with scammers. Once they have your user credentials, they have free access to your online banking account.

The text messages are sent randomly and pose to come from various banks. In many cases, the recipients don’t have an account with the bank that is supposedly sending these messages.

The content of these scam messages also varies with subjects ranging from scanners or readers to a direct debit payment.

Our advice
Have you received such an SMS text message from ‘your bank’? Please ignore this message. Banks will never send SMS text messages about your payments. When in doubt, contact your bank.
