Fake invoice from ‘Spotify’

A scam email is doing the rounds purporting to come from the music and video streaming service Spotify. It suggests that recipients have failed to pay their invoice.

In fact, the message explains that the payment was not credited because the account information was incorrect. For this reason, the senders are asking users to update their account details. Of course, this is a trick often used by criminals looking to steal confidential information. This practice is known as phishing.

Ignore this email. Spotify has nothing to do with it: the message was crafted by scammers. It was designed to tempt recipients to disclose their personal details, in this case their bank account information.
