Businesses can safely bin the bogus EPTR bill

6 February 2015

Business owners have received unsolicited mail from the European Patent and Trademark Register (EPTR). The company is sending out bogus bills.

The small print at the bottom of the document shows that the message is in fact an offer, which means there is no obligation to pay anything at all.
Have you received an ‘invoice’ like the one described? If so, please let us know.

The document is not an invoice but an offer. The small sprint explicitly says that “there is no obligation to pay”. The recipient can therefore safely bin the letter without paying the amount of 960 euro mentioned in it.
