Scammers are sending out a fake email purporting to come from the Netherlands Central Bank. Their aim is to spread malicious software.
A cursory glance will lead you to believe that this email has been sent by a leading Dutch commercial bank, ABN Amro. Oddly enough, the subject line includes the name of the Netherlands Central Bank: De Nederlandsche Bank N.V.. This makes for a messy email, and it doesn’t look at all professional.
Unfortunately, the link given in it can have nasty consequences. It leads to an executive file (.exe), which can activate a malicious programme.
You can safely delete this email. If you don’t trust a particular email or are certain it is fake, please forward it to email@example.com before deleting it from your inbox.
